BENGKULU – The Learning Center (GLT) building at the University of Bengkulu was crowded with visitors during the Foodpreneur 2026 bazaar on Tuesday (May 6, 2026). Organized by students of the Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, the event served as a platform to develop students’ entrepreneurial spirit through the sale of various culinary products and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Foodpreneur 2026 is part of the entrepreneurship course practice that must be undertaken by Agribusiness students of the 2023 cohort. Although the bazaar did not adopt a specific theme, it provided opportunities for students to innovate and create products that could attract consumers.

One of the committee members, explained that the purpose of the event was to train students’ ability to build a business, starting from marketing strategies to direct interaction with customers.

“We aim to develop entrepreneurship within the Faculty of Agriculture, especially in the Agribusiness program, so that MSMEs around Bengkulu can grow further and students become more creative by organizing such bazaars on campus,” said a committee member.

A total of 23 booths participated in the bazaar, offering a wide range of culinary products, including mie jebew, fried cassava snacks, coffee, kerupuk jangek, rengginang, pempek, siomay, and chicken balls.

According to MSME products, the bazaar also featured innovative products created by students and the Foodpreneur committee. The event was also supported by sponsors such as BSI, Teh Pucuk, and Honda.

During the event, the bazaar involved Agribusiness students as well as four lecturers of the entrepreneurship course: Netta Agusti, S.HI., M.E.Sy.; Ridha Rizki Novanda, S.E., M.Si.; Nola Windirah, S.P., M.Si.; Agung Trisusilo, S.P., M.P.

Preparations for the event had been carried out since January 2026, starting with the formation of the committee, followed by technical preparations in February leading up to the day of the event.

The Foodpreneur committee revealed that organizing the bazaar required extensive preparation and presented various challenges.

Several technical and coordination aspects had to be carefully managed to ensure the event ran smoothly. The Integrated Laboratory Building (GLT) was chosen as the venue due to its spacious and strategic location within the campus.

A performance by the University of Bengkulu Music Club further enlivened the atmosphere of the Foodpreneur 2026 culinary bazaar, making visitors stay and enjoy the event until the end.

Through Foodpreneur 2026, the committee hopes the event can become an annual agenda that provides real experience for students in the field of entrepreneurship.

Besides serving as a learning platform to enhance business skills, the bazaar is also expected to support the development of MSMEs, encourage culinary innovation, and foster a business mindset among students.

One of the committee member explained that several challenges emerged during the preparation process.

“The preparation process was quite difficult because we had to organize everything from start to finish, including booking the venue, finding sponsors, preparing equipment, and inviting MSMEs to participate,” she said.

Nevertheless, the bazaar was lively and received positive responses from visitors. The enthusiasm of students and the public was evident from the beginning of the event. The committee actively promoted the event through pamphlets and direct invitations to students and lecturers across the campus.

“Visitors came in large numbers, products sold out quickly, and some MSME products were almost completely sold out before the event ended,” said a committee member added.

The high level of visitor enthusiasm was reflected in the number of food items that were sold out before the event concluded.
